Rivian is the latest automaker to offer the TuneIn internet radio app in the vehicle

TuneIn, the world’s largest live audio streaming service, today announced that its app will be integrated into Rivian vehicles like the R1T. The automaker joins Mercedes, Volvo and Tesla in offering the service.

TuneIn claims to be one of the fastest growing audio streaming companies in the world and seeks to bring live and local radio, news, sports and podcasts to listeners wherever they are on earth.

Offering live sports coverage, music channels and talk radio, it acts much like satellite radio while offering live streams from over 100,000 local radio stations. Additionally, listeners can also access a number of podcasts through the TuneIn app.

“We are extremely excited to add Rivian to our existing lineup of automotive and connected technology partners,” said Richard Stern, CEO of TuneIn. “At TuneIn, we work with the world’s most innovative automakers to reinvent radio and premium live audio entertainment for the connected car. Our deep partnerships in the automotive industry allow drivers to discover and access the best audio content from around the world, directly through their dashboard, via a simple touch or voice command via Alexa.

TuneIn’s latest announcement is the result of its partnership with HARMAN. By integrating the app into the HARMAN Ignite Store, a leading connected vehicle platform that allows car manufacturers to develop their own in-vehicle app stores, the audio service can be offered to more drivers.

“Over the past few years, we’ve seen a tremendous amount of innovation in the automotive infotainment space,” said Jennifer Collins, senior vice president of business development at TuneIn. “At TuneIn, we bring that same level of customization and ease of use to in-car audio entertainment.”
