Kerala children’s internet radio sets incredible record – The New Indian Express

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Internet radio Sahithy Vani has earned a place in the Incredible Book of Records as the world’s first radio operated by children. The famous filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan presented the registration certificate to the founder of radio Binny Sahithy. The certificate was presented to members of the Sahithy Vani team. The ceremony took place at the residence of Addoor Gopalakrishnan in Akkulam.

The Incredible Book of Records arbiter PK Kumar, the director of the Kerala State Institute for Children’s Literature Palliyara Sreedharan and the directors of Sahithy Vani were in attendance. Launched on the occasion of World Student Day in November 2020, Sahithy Vani sees the active participation of students from different countries as members and presenters. School radio consultant and teacher Binny Sahithy is the founder of the radio. “This radio is very useful for developing creativity in children. The concept behind this was to introduce a radio revolution to schools in Kerala, ”Binny Sahithy said.

Alu Krishna, a class 11 student from Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram, is the director of the radio. Alok Prapanch, a Grade 12 student from St Mary’s Upper Secondary School is the chief program director.
The radio station was considered for the record because it was started by children during the lockdown, said Deepak Sharma, editor of Incredible Book.
